Former MP claims his life is in danger

Nyeri - Former Kieni MP, Nemesius Warugongo claims his life is in danger after receiving numerous calls from an anonymous person demanding to meet him in private.
Warugongo also said some people have been calling him on his mobile phone claiming that they want to help him in the campaigns ahead of the general elections but threaten him when he declines to send money.
He said that one man by the name Denis Githigu alias Nyoka has been calling him regularly claiming that he is the spokesman of 35 men scattered around Solio, Nairutia and Munyu villages who want to help him in the campaigns.
“I have reported the matter to the police since they normally trail me whenever am in Kieni campaigning and even threaten me on phone. They are known men who don’t have good behaviour,” he said.

Warugongo who was speaking to journalists after he reported the matter at Nyeri Central Police station said police should start investigating the matter.
He alleged that some political rivals might have sent the people to either harm or threaten him.
“Police have promised me that they will launch investigations into the matter. I have given them all the numbers mobile numbers used,” he added.
He said he cannot take chances in this electioneering period.
