Nairobi - Former Information and Communication Minister Samuel Moroto Poghisio has defected to KANU from the Jubilee party.
Poghisio said that he has decided to join the party because it represents the interests of the Pokot community.
"KANU is the party that fully understands our problems and that is why I will vie for the Senate seat on this party," he said.
The former Kachelipa member of Parliament also revealed that he will be vying for the West Pokot senatorial seat in the 2017 polls.
"We want to have our own party and after the dissolution of URP,the local citizens have called on me to remain in KANU and I have heard their pleas," he said.
Poghisio lost the seat in the 2013 general elections on a URP ticket to KANU's John Lonyangapuo who has declared his interest for oust the governor Simon Kachapin.
