Nairobi - Forget about direct tickets for the 2017 polls, Ruth Odinga tells politicians.
" Political parties should not give direct nominations to Governors seeking to defend their seats in the 2017 elections as this
will water down the gains in democracy," Kisumu Deputy Governor Odinga said.
Odinga urged both CORD and Jubilee to give all candidates a level-playing field to participate in the party primaries.
accused some Governors of blackmailing their party leaders in a bid to
receive direct tickets to defend their seats in the 2017 elections.
is not right for some Governors to keep singing the song of free
nominations,"she continued in a phone interview with News24.
So far ODM Governors have led the call for direct tickets.
However, according to CORD leader Raila Odinga, those are pipe dreams.
" The key is democracy and we will be killing it by handing over direct tickets. Kenyans must make their choices," he stated in September.
