Nairobi - Flying Squad officers have gunned down three suspected gangsters and injured two others in Nairobi's Ngara estate.
The officers gunned down the three at Parkroad area Wednesday afternoon and injured two more, Nairobi Police boss Japheth Koome confirmed.
Witnesses told News24 that the gangsters were flagged down by Police but instead opened fire and were hit by the officers who had tiled them from Lavington in Nairobi.
The two escaped with gunshot wounds and Police were still tailing them.
" We are still ongoing with the conquest but we have killed three and wounded others. We will give more information when the time comes," Koome stated.
Other reports though claimed that the gangsters were asked to step out of their car by the Police and shot on the spot.
" I saw them stopped and then all of a sudden heard gunshots rent the air. We took cover but I saw the Police shoot after they stepped out," a witness who called himself Ben stated.
Koome refused to acknowledge or deny the reports.
An AK 47 rifle and seven rounds of ammunition were found at the scene.
