Flooding in Nairobi CBD as rains cause havoc

Nairobi - Flooded streets ruled the streets of Nairobi as heavy rains pounded the city Wednesday afternoon.
There was lots of water in the CBD's major streets following the rain that hit the city in the afternoon and evening.
Moi, Kenyatta Avenue were all flooded, with the water causing slow movement of vehicles and thus serious traffic jams.
All major roundabouts in the city were also flooded.
Uhuru highway was also affected as was the expensively built Thika Super Highway.
Clogged drainages, which have been a constant feature of the city for years are yet to be cleared despite the county government allocating millions of shillings to the exercise.
Governor Evans Kidero told News24 last week that the issue of flooding due to clogged drainages would not occur as the County Government had done its best to clear them.
" We have allocated numerous resources to unblocking drainages and creating new ones," he stated.
With the usual rains in March and April here, it seems City residents will once again struggle with unnecessary flooding and strenuous traffic jams.
