25 July 2016, 17:18

Fifteen students from Rongai Boys High School in Rongai spent the weekend in police cell after their attempt to burn the school dormitory was thwarted by residents.

The students were attempting to burn the dormitory for the second time in a span of two months but quick action from residents and other students contained the fire.

Rongai Police Boss Joseph Mwamburi has confirmed the incident noting that the suspects who are form four students will be taken to court and face arson related charges.

“It is unfortunate incident because it was the second fire incident in the school but residents were able to contain it before it spread and we have arrested the suspects.” Mwamburi has said.

In the wave of school fire incidences, Nakuru has its share where over seven schools have been burnt causing anxiety and crisis.

Some of the schools that have been affected include; Michinda (Elburgon), Kambala (Molo), Kirobon Girls and Boys (Rongai), Mau Narok Secondary, administration block at Shiners Boys, Rongai Boys and Elburgon Secondary
