Nairobi - Cord leader Raila Odinga’s family will hold a memorial service for their late firstborn son, Fidel Castro Odinga, who passed on in January 2015.
A statement from Odinga said Fidel’s memorial service will be held alongside the 22nd anniversary of his late grandfather, Mzee Jaramogi Odinga who died in January 30 1994.
The Cord leader’s family paid tribute to Fidel and thanked all those who stood by them one year after his demise.
“One year has now gone by. You are sadly missed but fondly remembered by your parents, Rt. Hon Raila Odinga and Dr. Ida Odinga, your wife Lwam and your darling son Allay, your siblings Rosemary, Raila Jr, Yvonne and Winnie, your nieces Saphie and Senayi, uncles, aunties, cousins and all your relatives and friends.
“We the Odinga family would like to thank all those who stood with us during our long year of grief, following the loss of our dear Fidel.
“We little knew that morning that God was going to call your name. In life we loved you unconditionally, in death we do the same,” the statement read in part.
The memorial service will be held at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology in Bondo Town, Siaya County.
Fidel was found dead by his wife Lwam Bekele in his house in Karen a year ago after a night out with friends.
