Female students in Kilifi exposed to sex pest as hunger bites harder

Nairobi - It has emerged that most female student in Primary and Secondary schools in Magarini Sub-County are exposed to sex pest as drought digs dipper in various parts of Kilifi County.
According to education officials in Kilifi, girls who live in rental houses in Magarini Sub –County highly depend on their fellow male students who give them money or food in return with sex.
Speaking in a forum at Magarini in Kilifi County, Education Official in Magarini Sub-county, Stephen Abare said that Magarini Sub- County has no even a single boarding school since independence and the situation has led to early pregnancy among female students in secondary schools.
“Parents should carry the blame, how can you give your child one packet of maize flour and expect it to last her for a month?” posed Mr. Abare.
Mr. Abare said that the trend is worrying since the young girl fall prey to older men with money and who can enable them manage school life.
Abare said that the government is working towards uplifting several secondary schools in Magarini to make them boarding schools a step which will curb irresponsible sexual behavior among the students.
“By January next year we will uplift Galana boys, Magarini boys, Mapimo boys and Marafa boys high schools into boarding schools which will enable students stay in school and concentrate on their books more than indulging in love life” noted the Magarini Sub-county education Officer
