Female journalist threatened by MCA

Nairobi - A Murang’a based journalist fears for her life after she alleged a local Member of County Assembly (MCA) has threatened to harm her.
Pauline Muthoni, who works for vernacular radio station, Coro FM, claimed that she is not living in peace following threats she received from the MCA.
Muthoni said the MCA approached her on March 28 at Kenol market and insulted her before uttering that he will kill her if she will not stop interfering with his life.
Muthoni alleged that the politician was irked by a story she did two weeks ago, implicating the MCA with a case of grabbing a land belonging to a group of women at Kabati market.
She said she has not been attending her daily duties for fear of being attacked, adding that she has already recorded a statement with the police.
“I want to be given security since the threats issued by the MCA cannot be taken lightly,” said Muthoni.
Contacted for comment on the allegations, the MCA said he has not been in good terms with the journalist for long time.
The MCA stressed that he did not insult or threaten Muthoni, alleging that the journalist insulted him in front of other people on the mentioned day.
“How can I threaten a girl of the age of my daughter? For a long time, Muthoni has been going round telling people in my ward that I was elected by the help of witchcraft,” he said.
He said he had raised concern with his lawyer to sue Muthoni for defamation, adding that he had nothing to do with the land in question.
“That land is of two pieces, one for a private individual and the other piece for the women group, but legal documents are clear on demarcation of the land and as far as I am concerned, I am not a land officer,” he said.
He advised the Women group in question to pursue the matter with the land registrar.
The MCA, who has represented the ward since 1992, claimed that Muthoni is being used by his political opponents to tarnish his name
