Famous Kenyan writer passes on

Nairobi - Marjorie Oludhe Macgoye, author of several award winning books has died.
The author died Monday at her Ngara home.
She was 87.
She was born in Southampton England in 1928 and came to Kenya in 1954 as a missionary.
Her most famous works include the 1986 novel 'coming to birth' which won the Sinclair writing prize. The book is well known to Kenyan students as it was adopted into the 8-4-4 curriculum as a set book for English studies.
She was also a philanthropist, poet and women's rights campaigner.
