Mr Mburu’s relatives who died in the accident that occurred at Ndenderu area were Daniel Kinyanjui, Peter Ndai, Waithira Kibinge and her nine year old daughter Lilian Njoki.

“The girl succumberd to the injuries while undergoing treatment at Tigoni sub county hospital where several of the pile-up victims had been rushed by good Samaritans.

The vehicle which the four were travelling in was the first to be hit by the sand ferrying lorry, before the lorry rammed into 12 other vehicles when its breaks failed at Rweno village.

Mrs. Mburu recalled how her husband effortlessly called his brother severally about the time of the accident only for his phone to be received by a stranger who delivered the sad news.

Waithira’s husband Richard Kibinge who was driving the vehicle they were travelling in was seriously injured and is admitted at Kenyatta National Hospital.
