Speakers who included politicians and religious leaders called for prayers to drive away an evil spirit that they claimed was hovering in the area and occasioning deaths through drowning.
“There is need for religious leaders to dedicate one day for prayers to drive away this demon that is claiming the lives of our people by drowning,” said area MP Wachira Karani.
Karani cautioned the residents against pointing fingers at leaders when tragedies strike.
He at the same time, asked the local people to pray for the government to overcome challenges facing it.
