Fake Policeman arrested demanding bribes from Somalis in Eastleigh

Nairobi - A man has been arrested for claiming to be a Policeman and demanding bribes from Eastleigh residents.
The man, who is said to be an assistant Chief in the area was arrested Saturday for demanding bribes from residents of Somali origin and threatening to have them deported.
Wilson Irungu was arrested with fake papers and handcuffs and presented before the Makadara Law Courts Monday morning.

He denied the charges.
" He has been pretending to be a Policeman and arresting residents. He has also picked up bribes on a number of occasions," Starehe OCPD Seroney Kiberenge told News24 on phone.
Many Somalis in Eastleigh lack the required paperwork and are an easy target for Policemen and con men.
