Fake Kaya elders met ODM rebels in coast regions says Kaya elders association chair

15 July 2016, 15:20

Kwale - Kwale, Mombasa and Kilifi Kaya elders association chair Badallah Mnyenze has said that fake Kaye elders in Kilifi are the ones who met ODM rebel recently in Malindi.

Mnyenze said the group which vowed to campaign against ODM in the region led by Kilifi north MP Gideon Mung’aro are not their members.

Addressing a joint ODM and Kaya elders briefing on Thursday in Diani, Mnyenze added “if Ilali Mwatsuma Kilifi County, Willy Tsuma Coast Secretary, Dadu Kituku from Kaya Fungo and Bega Rero from Kaya Rabai were present then we would agree they were genuine”.

The Kaya elders said the issue is meant to cause division among them which will not be allowed.

Kaya Ukunda charman Hamisi Mwavwiko said they are in ODM to stay adding that leaders who campaign against ODM are sent home in 2017.

Kaya Diani chairman Abdallah Boga cautioned the rebel leaders against disrespecting the position of Kaya elders warning them to stop engaging the elders whenever they are in the process of getting political mileage or fighting for their selfish interest.

ODM leaders present led by Matuga constituency chair Hassan Chitembe asked rebels to prepare for being voted out.

“If the rebels feels they are too popular let them resign and seek fresh mandate from electorates including Kwale county women representative Zainab Chizuga,” he added.

The Director of Al-Kahf Islamic Development Welfare who is also an ODM delegate Hamisi Banda termed the rebels as people who have lost their lifeline in politics.

“They have done nothing for their people ever since they decided to work with the government in the name of fostering development. “These people have just been attracted by money,” he claimed.

Kwale County ODM Secretary General Omar Boga said there is no way that Kwale residents and the entire Coastal region can vote for Jubilee.

He noted that the residents could have only made up their minds to vote for President Uhuru Kenya if the issue of land, dredging of the sand and Dongo Kundu by pass was addressed.

“We are going to do door to door campaign to ensure that those who clam Jubilee will get vote in coast region fail terribly” he said.

They were reacting to sentiments by ODM rebels who were accompanied by ‘Kaya’ elders in Malindi claiming they are going to campaign for Jubilee ahead of 2017 and ensure coast region is no more an ODM zone.
