Kampala - Police in Uganda's south-western district of Kasese are holding a 30-year-old ex soldier for allegedly defiling 3 of his underage daughters.
The girls he has been continuously defiling are reportedly aged between 8 and 12 years.
The arrested man has been identified by police as Gideon Masereka Mahitiko, a resident of Kasanzi village.
He was dismissed from the army two years ago after being found with marijuana.
''After being dismissed from the army, his wife who is also the mother of his 3 daughters, took off and up to now we do not know where she is. He has been living with the 3 small daughters,'' said his neighbor, Jack Abwaki.
Criminal investigation department chief in Kasese district, Joseph Andama said they were tipped by one of the relatives of the suspected rapist who said the children had told him about their father's inhumane behavior.
''We have arrested him. We are carrying out investigations and shall soon take him to court to answer to charges of aggravated defilement.''
The maximum punishment for aggravated defilement is death.
Kasese district senior probation and welfare officer said the children reported the defilement to their grandmother and uncle.
