EACC summons Raila to explain Eurobond saga

Nairobi - The Ethics and Anti Corruption Commision EACC has summoned CORD leader Raila Odinga to explain his utterances over the Eurobond saga.
Raila has been asked to come in on Thursday.
" Please avail yourself to the EACC headquarters at Integrity Centre to shed light on the matter mentioned above," the letter to Raila read in part.
The opposition leader has insisted on a number of occasions that there is something amiss over the KES 250 million Eurobond transactions which the government has been mum about.
According to Raila, as much as KES 100 billion has been stolen or cannot be accounted for.
The government though, has insisted that the transactions are above board and has released several statements to that effect but the opposition has not heeded the calls.
The EACC, which has been forced into the investigations, has already summoned Treasury CS Henry Rotich and other senior officials and now wants to hear the other side of the story from Raila.
" He has been asked to come in and shed some light as the EACC seeks to have as much information on the issue at had as possible," an EACC detective that wished not to be named as he is not authorised to speak officially told News24.
The government has been hard pressed to explain the Eurobond transactions with Kenyans worried by the excessive borrowing the country has been engaged in recent times.
