Nairobi - Anti-corruption detectives have arrested former executive secretary in charge of agriculture in County Government of Nyeri for issuing a contract worth KES.3.9 million to JKUAT Enterprises.
Shadrack Wang’ombe Mubea was arrested alongside Chief Officer Agriculture David Nyaga after they were summoned at the regional Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) offices in Nyeri town.
According to Central region EACC officer in charge Faith Ng’ethe, the two are alleged to have issued the contract to Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) Enterprises irregularly.
The offences were allegedly committed in Financial Year 2014/2015, whereby JKUAT was allowed to audit and review coffee societies in the County.
Ng’ethe said the arrests were made after intensive investigations.
She said the duo was later escorted to Nyeri central Police Station and released on a police bond of KES.20,000 each awaiting court trial.
Area OCPD Masai Makau also confirmed the arrests divulging that the two will be charged with abuse of office
