Nyeri - A middle aged man accused of trafficking bhang in Chaka Township in Kieni East sub-county has been slapped with a six-month imprisonment term by a Nyeri court.
Moses Ochuchu was convicted on his own plea of guilty by Resident Magistrate Ruth Kefa.
The court heard that the convict was arrested on August 31, this year by Administration Police officers following intelligence reports that he was trafficking drugs in the area.
He was found at his house where upon search police recovered 11 rolls of bhang with a street value of KES.220.
He was escorted to Kiganjo police station where he was locked up before being arraigned in court.
The said bhang was produced in court as exhibit.
However, in mitigation, Ochuchu prayed for forgiveness saying he was remorseful and that he was the bread winner of his family.
The court dismissed him saying the offence was serious though he was a first offender and regretful.
The court further ordered that the drugs be destroyed.
