Drama as thieves slaughter, cook and eat 71 chicken

16 September 2016, 11:45 Joseph Njung'eh

Nairobi - Some four poultry farmers in Mathira sub-county, Nyeri, are counting loses after unknown robbers broke into their homesteads where they stole, slaughtered, cooked and ate 71 chicken at night.

The unknown number of robbers who were armed with knives stormed the four homesteads at Rititi village where they partied and only left behind feathers, legs and heads of the hens.

One of the victims Kinyua Mathenge who lost 16 hens, said the chicken heads were later arranged in a circle outside his house by the daring thieves.

The incident has shocked many villagers in the area who said it was the first case of the kind.

“What shocked many is that the owners did not hear any movement or sounds during the incident,” said Mathenge.

Residents who were in disbelief said that the area chief and police visited the home but no arrests have been made.
