Drama as Murkomen flies his chopper into CORD meeting, blows dust on guests

09 August 2016, 11:42 Philomenah Chebet

Elgeyo Marakwet -  High flying Elgeyo Marakwet Senator, Kipchumba Murkomen momentarily disrupted a function by CORD leaders in his county, after flying into the venue on a chopper.

The Senator, a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto caused drama at a fundraising that was being led by ODM nominated Senator Agnes Zani and Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire when he arrived late.

The chopper he was flying to Lelboinet Africa Inland Church in Keiyo South, left the VIPs who were representing CORD chief Raila Odinga at the event in a ball of dust and gasping for breath, as other people scampered to safety.

His entry into the venue in a show of might enraged the hosts who accused the vocal senator of being afraid of the rising popularity of the opposition coalition CORD in the Rift Valley, which is a stronghold of DP Ruto.

But speaking to journalists after the function, Murkomen denied planning to disrupt the function, explaining that he had been invited but had other engagements earlier in the day.

“As the area Senator and a church member, I had every right to attend the fundraising. I belong to the same church,” he explained.
