Kerugoya - Drama unfolded at Giacai section of the Kutus-Kerugoya road when an armed traffic policeman fled at high speed to avoid arrest by Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) officers.
The policeman fled into a nearby maize plantation in broad daylight while still holding onto his AK47 assault rifle.
Area residents who rushed to the scene were told by the fleeing officer that they had been attacked by armed robbers together with his colleague.
The officer later escaped to an unknown destination leaving unsuspecting members of the public stranded.

His colleague was however not lucky as he was cornered by the EACC officers and upon search was found with more than KES 20 000 all in KES 50-note denomination.
A private car which was being used by the traffic officers was also towed to Kerugoya police station where the suspect was booked awaiting court trial.
The incident happened just two months after two other traffic officers were arrested by EACC while collecting bribes from motorists at Karatina-Kerugoya junction.
