Nairobi - The Director of Public Prosecutions, Keriako Tobiko has ordered police to arrest and interrogate Senator Mike Sonko.
This order came a day after the outspoken Senator declared himself the acting President of Kenya.
In a letter dated 15th October, the DPP cites a video of the funeral where Sonko is captured saying: "Rais Uhuru is in Togo, Deputy President William Ruto is in France. I am number three in command politically influence-wise and socially… I am now the acting president of the republic of Kenya."
The DPP also directed the police to forward the file to his office as soon as investigations are complete for appropriate action.
Sonko’s utterances at Wavinya Ndeti husband’s funeral in Machakos angered Kenyans, with city lawyer, Ahmednasir Abdullahi saying they amounted to treason.
