DP Ruto's allies to campaign for Museveni

Busia - Four allies of Deputy President William Ruto will Friday be in Eastern Uganda to drum up support for President Yoweri Museveni, just a week before the general elections.
Endebess MP Robert Pukose, Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago and Ruto's aide Farouk Kibet will tour several parts of the Sebei region to campaign for the incumbent President.
This will be second time in less than a week for Dr Pukose and Mr Kibet to traverse the region, an area predominantly inhabited by the Sabiny, a sub-group of the Sabaot who belong to the larger Kalenjin community.
Last Saturday, the duo accompanied with Narok Governor Samuel Ole Tunai visited the three districts in the sub-region and addressed several rallies, where they appealed to the public to give National Resistance Movement (NRM) party boss another chance.

The Kenyan team was received at Kapchorwa Boma grounds by Anthony Kuka Cherotich, the political assistant in charge of mobilization at Uganda's State House, an indication that the visit had the blessings of the Head of State.
Speaking to News24, a source at Uganda's State House who is privy to the arrangement of the visit confirmed that the Kenyan leaders will be touring the region and will address campaign rallies accompanied by local NRM leaders.
"Yes, the four leaders will be here. All arrangements have been put in place to receive them. They will first be hosted to a breakfast meeting with local NRM leaders and aspirants before they go for the rallies," the source who requested anonymity said.
The Sebei sub region that has over 200 000 voters over the years has in the past polls been a political stronghold for Museveni, but the support for the NRM party leader has waned in the last one year.
