Nairobi - Mt Elgon MP, John Serut has accused some officials at the office of the Deputy President William Ruto of plotting to kill him politically.
The legislator blamed the unnamed individuals for working with his rivals in planning the DP's visits to his region without involving him.
Speaking to News24, the MP who was conspicuously absent during a tour by Ruto to his constituency on Saturday said the officials at the DP’s office have always ensured that he is kept in the dark regarding the visits.
The Deputy President on Saturday visited Toroso Secondary School and Chepkurkur and Nomorio primary Schools in the constituency where he inspected development projects and donated KES 1 Million for each institution.
“This is the third visit by the Deputy President in my constituency without involving me. I am convinced that somebody is trying to micro-manage my constituency without my knowledge,” said Serut.
Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka and Women Representatives Reginalda Wanyonyi were among the leaders who accompanied Ruto. Deputy Governor Hillary Chongwony and former MP Fred Kapondi were also present.
“Although Ruto has liberty to go anywhere in the country as the Deputy President, it would have been courteous if I was engaged in planning to receive him in my constituency," he added.
Concerning his absence, he explained that he was not aware of the DP trip to his constituency as he was away on national duties in Galana/Kulalu Irrigation Scheme in Kilifi County as a member of the parliamentary committee on Agriculture.
