Nairobi - DP William Ruto has been criticized for calling Gideon Moi an uncircumcised boy.
Ruto in a speech in his native Kalenjin called out Moi for not supporting him and causing divisions among the Kalenjin community for personal gain.
He went on to refer to him as a small uncircumcised boy.
Members of the Kenya African National Union party KANU were not impressed with the statement by the DP and believe it is a sign of his withering political might.
" This is yet another sign of his actions under pressure," KANU Secretary General Nick Salat told News24 on phone.
" The DP has a habit of insulting other political leaders once he is under pressure. This is a manifestation of his talents which are waning," he added.
Ruto was unapologetic over his comments, instead blaming the Star newspaper for fabricating his comments.
" My statements have never been about "trivialities like circumcision but as
always the Star is at it. I understand sales matter. Isorait [sic]," he stated.
Ruto is under pressure in his Rift Valley backyard with the Kericho by election exposing the Jubilee Party's fractious nature.
