The one being held has been identified by police as Dr Robert Tumuhimbise, 35 the proprietor of Kabale Surgery Clinic and family Planning services located in Kigongi Kabale Municipality.
He allegedly on Wednesday night raped a 20 year old Kabale university student, whose name has been withheld to avoid embarrassing her personality.
" The university student had gone for a stomach treatment in the evening but the doctor told the victim to wait in a special room for examination. In the process, he doped her with an injection and she became unconscious. He then raped her," police officer Andrew Olaka.
Deep in the night, the victim gained consciousness and escaped from the doctor who was snoring beside her and ran to report at Kabale Police Station.

Maate said that the doctor will be taken to court to be charged with rape.
If found guilty, the maximum punishment for rape in Uganda is death.
