Gachie - A mission to rescue a patient turned tragic in Gachie when the doctor on call was attacked by a group of thugs who shot and wound her.
The victim, Dr Mary Wambui from Kihara Sub-district Hospital had just been called to attend to the patient who needed a caesarian section surgery at around 2 am Wednesday before the thugs allegedly hijacked and shot her.
This led to protests by her colleagues who paralyzed business for the better part of the day decrying the runaway insecurity in the area.
Following this development, the Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union through Secretary General Ouma Oluga threatened to withdraw their night shift services if the matter is not addressed promptly.
The victim was rushed to Agha Khan University Hospital for specialized treatment.
