Do not allow Raila to topple your government, Elders tell Kenyatta

26 May 2016, 18:26

Nairobi - The rift valley council of elders has asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to stand firm and not to allow CORD leader Raila Odinga to topple his government.

Led by their chairman Gilbert Kabage the elders said that Raila is determined to end President Kenyatta rein immaturely and called upon him to stand firm and defend his government.

Addressing the press in Nakuru town on Thursday the elders said that Raila’s history is known and cautioned him against any plot that would take the country into chaos.

“Raila is a political schemer and we know that he is planning on how he and his associates can bring the government down so that he can take over power but we want to tell him the country will not allow that to happen,” said Kabage.

“And to the president we are telling him to be alert and be ready to defend his government because he was voted in by the people of Kenya to serve for five years and until those five years are over nobody should even dream of getting him out of power,” he added.

“There is no doubt that Raila is planning a coup and that is very clear from his latest actions but Kenyans are more awake and won’t allow him to  plunge the nation into bloodshed,’’ he said.

The elders further said that even if the IEBC is disbanded and reconstituted Raila will still not accept the results after losing in 2017.

“The problem is not the IEBC because this man will never accept the results and he is just out to cause mayhem in the country,” said Kabage.
