Nairobi - A day after the jubilee coalition parliamentary group meeting agreed to unanimously support ban on party hoping, it is now emerging the members of parliament were forced to endorse the ban.
A URP member of parliament from Nakuru County who attended the Karen meeting which was presided over by DP Ruto said that members of parliament were not given time to explain why they are opposed to party hoping but they were instead ordered to support the ban on party hoping or face the wrath.
Speaking Thursday the MP who is a big supporter of DP Ruto slammed him for forcing ideas on members of parliament for his own gains.
“The meeting was called not with the intention of discussing the issue of party hoping but with the sole intention of forcing us to endorse the ban on party hoping and the DP categorically said that it is either you support the ban on party hoping or you become an enemy of jubilee,” he said.
“We were told that supporting party hoping while in jubilee will be tantamount to supporting CORD in a jubilee stronghold and that is what scared most members,” he added.
The MP added that even though those present agreed to support the ban on party hoping deep down their hearts they are for party hoping.
“Along the way this issue of curtailing peoples freedoms will come back to haunt jubilee and that will be the genesis of problems within the party if it is not handled with care,” he said.
“The spirit of dictatorship is slowly creeping into jubilee and that ahs to stop because if it persists then the party is headed nowhere,” he said.
The MP requested anonymity due not to appear as if he is disrespecting his bosses.
