Nairobi - Mombasa residents have received reports of criminal gangs in Kisauni who suck and undress women in the Sub-county with extreme shock.
The recent reports which many did not believe until six women from Soko Mjinga and Barsheba areas within Kisauni came out to narrate their ordeal and left many locals attending a women conference in Bombolulu in a dead shock.
“They ask you to give them any valuables including money and mobile phones failure to which they undress you, suck your breasts several times before they allow you to go home,” added a woman
The other victim of the inhumane and shameful act was Naima Kassim a woman who operates a fish kiosk at Soko mjinga area in Kisauni, who was also undressed after giving out only KES 50 while the young gang demanded KES 200.
“I was sucked too by the young boys who are between 12-20 years of age, even after giving out my KES 50”, she said on Thursday during the women and security conference at Bombolulu, in Kisauni.
The women, led by Gender and human rights activist from Haki Africa human rights lobby Salma Hemed appealed to security agents to punish the gang since the situation is getting out of hand.
Salma said that the insecurity situation in Kisauni Sub-County has worsened and it is up to the security agents to deal with it, so that locals can live in a conducive environment.
“This is a very big security problem, and we are sure it is getting out of hand as we approach 2017 general elections, Mombasa is experiencing a mushrooming of criminal gangs,” added Salma.
The Gender and human rights activist at the Coast raised the red flag on the security issue in Mombasa and called on the relevant authorities to work on the delicate assignment before it escalates to the whole County.
“However we also understand that this is as a result of lazy parents who have failed in implementing their parental roles, how can a young boy of 12 years stab a woman, undress and suckle her breast?,” added Salma.
She appealed to the security agents in Kisauni not to relent but deal with the gang until the situation is relatively calm.
While responding to the Women’s’ cry, the Coast regional coordinator Nelson Marwa termed the incidences as very shameful and unfortunate and assured Kisauni residents that he will personally move in and deal with them.
Marwa said that he cannot keep quiet and assume everything is well within Mombasa County, as people in charge of insecurity we need to work extra hard and tame this menace.
“Undressing and suckling a woman is the same as raping your own mother or your own sister, I will not tolerate that, I will move in and ensure these young juvenile gangs are dealt with properly” he said.
He has appealed for cooperation and ordered Mombasa County Commissioner Maalim Mohammed to ensure that the security operation starts immediately.
