Court case to stop Keter, Kazungu nomination to cabinet

Nairobi - An activist wants the nomination of Charles Keter and Dan Kazungu to the cabinet stopped.
The activist, Patrick Njuguna wants the nomination of the two stopped by the registry because they are both politicians and that the Constitution prohibits appointment of politicians to public offices.
The activist insists that the move by President Uhuru Kenyatta to appoint the two is an insult to the Constitution which seeks hard to stop the mixing of Politics and Public office structure.
" Article 152(3) of the Constitution prohibits the appointment of MPs from appointment as Cabinet secretaries. The action of the President is a deliberate insult to the doctrines of separation of powers as per the Constitution," he states in his plea.
The two are set to be vetted by Parliament soon and it is expected that as soon as they are passed by positively by the house, they will resign from their current seats as Kericho Senator and Malindi MP respectively.
A similar undertaking took place in the nomination of Joseph Nkaissery to the Cabinet earlier in the year.
He was the then Kajiado Central MP before being nominated to the position of CS Interior.
