Kilifi - In a shocking proposal, the County government of Kilifi has set aside KES 7 million in the financial year 2016/2017 for the construction of a Witches and Wizards Rescue Centre.
The center is set to help elderly people who are accused of practicing black magic in the area.
According to the proposal, the center will be built at the Mrima kwa Ndege, in Vitengeni Sub-County. Area MCA, Teddy Mwambire said that most of the killings are conducted by family members.
However, Kilifi County Commissioner Joseph Keter said the killings are conducted by youth over inheritance.
“Maybe due to unemployment, some of them feel that killing their parents is the best way to quickly acquire wealth,” he added.
