Mombasa - Mombasa County assembly sittings were interrupted on Thursday after a section of Ward representatives walked out protesting a decision by the Majority Leader to name committee members who are considered rebels.
The representatives also wanted to oust the Majority Leader Abdallah Kasangamba but blamed the Speaker, Thadius Rajwayi of frustrating their effort to oust Kasangamba.
Old Town representative Murfad Abdallah said: “The order paper says that if there is any communication that is sent to the Speaker, he is immediately supposed to communicate when he goes to the assembly."

He also accused the Speaker of bias and trying to divide the assembly.
On his side, Kasagamba denied receiving any information about his ouster.
Earlier before the sittings there was a scuffle between the Majority Leader and the chief whip after the Mtongwe ward representative Hamisi Mwidani sat on the Majority Leader’s seat as a sign of change of guard.
