Nyeri - The County Government of Nyeri has proposed that school going boys in both public and private schools be given free underwear.
In the 2016/2017 budget proposal, the County government has asked for increased funding to the departments of Education and Special Programmes to cater for the underwear.
Under the proposal, the boys will get at least three pairs of underwear while girls get sanitary towels.
The Chief Officer in charge of Special Programmes, Beth Karimi said the government decided to give free underwear after the boys felt left out when sanitary towels were being distributed to the girls.
