Cost of living to rise after an increase in fuel price
16 July 2016, 13:56
Nairobi - The cost of living is expected to rise after the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) announced an increase in the price of fuel.
In the new announcement the price of petrol will increase by 6 shillings while diesel and kerosene by 9 and 3 shillings respectively.
The commission attributed the increase in the fuel price to the increase of fuel levy tax by the Finance Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich in the 2016/2017 budget.
In his budget speech, Rotich increased fuel levy fee from sh 12 to shillings 18 per litre.
The new price changes took effect today and will be in force until 14th August when the commission is expected to announce new price.
