Nairobi - The CORD coalition wants a Jubilee politician arrested for stating that the 2017 elections will be won by stealing and thuggery.
Suleiman Shabhal said that the Jubilee Coalition would steal the polls if need be during a rally in Kilifi over the weekend in which Deputy President William Ruto was in attendance.
He was recorded stating that the 2017 Elections would end up in a Jubilee win because there would be bribery and stealing of votes.
" This time round, I am telling you, we will win the 2017 election by force. We will steal, we will buy. Whatever it will be. We will win it," he is quoted saying in the video.
Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi now wants Shabhal arrested as a result.
" There must be action taken. This is unacceptable. It is also an indication of what the Jubilee government stands for," he said in a statement seen by News24 Tuesday.
He also stated that he had a video of the speech and that he would forward it to the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions DPP and Police.
" A CORD politician (George Aladwa) was arrested for speaking about the 2017 elections and thus I expect similar action to be taken on Shabhal," he offered.
DP Ruto has thus far not commented on Shabhal's statement, instead choosing to focus on other issues that took him to the Coast.
