CORD to hold Uhuru Park rally for detained MPs
16 June 2016, 17:25
Nairobi - CORD will hold a rally at Uhuru Park in honour of MPs who have been detained by Police over hate speech allegations.
The Coalition announced Thursday that the rally would be held Saturday where there would also be a night vigil at Freedom Corner in Uhuru Park for the MPs.
CORD believes that the MPs have been wrongly and forcefully detained and want them released within the next 24 hours.
They have also insisted that they will hold demonstrations Friday if the MPs are not released on bail.
The MPs were taken into custody Tuesday and denied bail for their utterances.
" We will hold a night vigil in honour of the MPs who have been openly mistreated by the government," CORD leader Raila Odinga said.
This came after another fruitless attempt by the CORD leaders to see the MPs who have been detained in various Police stations in Nairobi.
The MPs will have an application for bail heard Friday.
