CORD promises Jubilee hell in 2016

Nairobi - Official opposition, Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) has vowed to keep the Jubilee government in check as the next general election approaches.
Cord leader, Raila Odinga on Tuesday said his coalition will defend the Constitution and the fundamental rights of Kenyans that are enshrined in it, even as he noted that President Uhuru Kenyatta has blatantly disregarded the law.

“As CORD, we will do our part. We will not sit by and let the Jubilee administration undo all we have struggled for, a struggle in which many lives have been lost and many years of freedom lost in KANU’s political jails,” he said.
Raila pointed that the Jubilee has used numbers in Parliament to muzzle independent institutions and offices and irregularly given President Powers to govern.
He gave the example of where the head of state has given himself the powers to appoint and dismiss the Inspector General of Police and the Chief Justice, against provisions of the Constitution.
“We shall fight the retrogressive laws in the courts. We will vigorously pursuing the OKOA Kenya referendum. We will pursue accountability for and recovery of the proceeds of the Eurobond. We will not accept anything less than a free and fair 2017 election,” promised Raila.
