CORD leader criticises Raila for defending hate speech MPs

Nairobi - A CORD Governor has criticised Coalition leader Raila Odinga for protecting hate speech mongers.
Machakos' Alfred Mutua says that by defending those accused of hate speech, Raila had showed he supports the use of such language to exercise Political gain.
He stated that by the CORD leader calling for the unconditional release of MPs who have been accused of causing danger to the public through their utterances, he had shown that he himself lacks leadership qualities.
" It is sad that we see leaders of national standing vehemently defending MPs who have been accused of hate speech and clamouring for hate," he said Friday.
He accused the CORD leadership of wasting time on trivial matters instead of focusing on important matters that affect Kenyans.
" Those that have been accused must defend themselves but we see our leaders show solidarity with them instead of calling for unity and insisting on the betterment of the lives of Kenyans," he added.
He also called on the courts to come down hard on hate speech mongers.
" It is the duty of the courts to protect Kenyans from such evil acts and I urge them to take stern action on those found guilty," he added.
Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama, who is among those accused, is a huge rival of Mutua's but the Governor did not mention him directly when speaking.
