Nairobi - Nairobi Governor has caused a stir after making remarks that appeared to endorse Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election bid.
Speaking during the official launch of the ASK Nairobi International Trade Fair2016, Kidero said: "Let me just thank you for honoring us. From 2013 you were here ... and we're confident that you will be with us in 2017."
Kidero's comments were received with applause, with majority of Kenyans saying that even Kidero was confident that Uhuru Kenyatta will win the 2017 Presidential election.
The President thanked Kidero for the endorsement: "I look forward, nikijaliwa na mwenyezi Mungu na maombi ya Kidero nirudi 2017. (God willing and through Kidero's prayers, I will be back in 2017. Thanks very much)."
Kidero, who has in the past been quoted as saying that he will personally finance Raila Odinga's Presidential campaigns, was quick to dismiss the endorsement saying that he was misquoted.
"Just to be clear, I was inviting H.E Uhuru Kenyatta to next year's Nairobi Intl. Trade Fair since he's a fairly successful dairy farmer #NairobiIntTradeFair2016 wasn't a political rally nor a campaign. I was thanking the President for attending the past successful events," he posted on Twitter.
