Nairobi - The CORD Coalition has dropped Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama from its IEBC dialogue team.
The move to drop Muthama comes after the negotiation team with the Jubilee side agreed to a number of changes to allow the negotiations over the IEBC to take place.
According to a CORD source, the Jubilee side asked that Muthama be dropped from the team while CORD asked that Moses Kuria the Gatundu South MP also be dropped.
Jubilee agreed, together with okaying the move to have the dialogue team reduced from 11 members to just 7 on each side as had been requested by the opposition.
" Muthama has been dropped in the spirit of the talks," the source told News24.
There was also an agreement that the talks will only centre on the IEBC and not wider electoral talks as had been requested by the CORD Coalition.
the talks will be mediated by the foreign caucus in Kenya led by envoys Bob Godec of the United States and Nick Hailey of the United Kingdom.
CORD have also agreed to drop their street protests while the talks are ongoing.
