Cop threatens to kill doctors over wife's stillbirth

Murang'a - An Administration Police (AP) officer threatened to shoot doctors at Murang’a General Hospital following the death of his newborn baby.
The officer identified as Maxwell Owino disrupted services at the hospital's maternity wing after receiving news that his wife had a stillbirth.
Patients were left unattended for several hours after the medics ran for their lives and demonstrated outside the hospital.
The officer accused doctors of neglecting her and thus causing the death.

A nurse at the hospital, Enos Githuga said the violent officer was not contained by fellow officers despite reporting the matter at Kigumo police station.
The County Health Services chief officer, Joseph Mbai pledged to work with relevant departments to ensure medics have enough security.
He said the hospital will be placed under 24-hour surveillance.
Mbai added that he will write to the County Security Committee to ensure armed police officers are posted at the hospital.
