Cofek wants appointment of KAA boss halted

Nairobi - The Consumer Federation of Kenya (Cofek) wants a court to halt the recent appointment of Jonny Andersen as Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) Managing Director.
According to the federation, Andersen’s recruitment contravened the law and court should temporarily halt his appointment pending determination of the case.
“The MD vacancy announcement was only meant for Kenyan citizens and not foreign nationals. How comes a Norwegian was appointed instead of a Kenyan?
“We need clarity on how he fulfilled the vetting requirements of wealth declaration, certificate of good conduct and tax compliance among other things,” the federation said.
Andersen’s appointment as KAA MD was made by Transport Cabinet Secretary James Macharia on July 12, 2016.
