30 November 2015, 07:52 Arap Yego

Nairobi - A family from Mwingi Kitui County has been left in shock and disbelief after they found their relative who was admitted at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) brutally murdered and his eyes gorged out at the medical facility on Sunday.

Relatives of the 42-year-old man received a call with the chilling news that their kin who was suffering from cancer had been clobbered to death by an unknown person on Sunday morning.

“We were notified by the hospital that our relative was no more. We found his lifeless body covered with blood still lying at the hospital bed at the ward he was admitted. One of his eyes had been gorged out,” said Peter Muthengi, brother in-law of the deceased.

“One of his legs was also broken in the brutal attack,” a traumatized Muthengi told journalists at Kilimani Police Station, where they went to report the matter.

Kilimani OCPD, Peter Katam who confirmed the incident said they have launched investigation into the matter.

“Police who were called by the hospital security officers found the late lying dead with a wound on his head, which may have been inflicted by a blunt object. We have commenced investigations over the bizarre killing,” said the police boss.

Katam said the body of the deceased is lying at the mortuary wing of KNH, which is the largest referral hospital not only in the country but in the region as well.
