Buhari who? Eldoret residents know little of Nigerian President

Nairobi - The Nigerian President is in town but Eldoret residents struggle to comprehend who Muhammadu Buhari is.
Buhari will be a guest of the north Rift Valley town for Wednesday afternoon where he will attend a memorial service to mourn the Kenya Defence Forces Soldiers killed in an Al Shabaab attack on their camp in Somalia.
The President of Africa's biggest economy will make his first visit to the country, a visit that will seek to enhance the two nations' budding relationship.
In anticipation of the visit, the sleepy town has seen increased activity by security agents as well as a heavy clean-up to ensure that it is clean ahead of the visit.
But who is Buhari?
Eldoret residents hardly know.
For many, the visit represents nothing significant to their lives, as well as a personality who does not really have an affect on the world as some would have.

" He is not Obama so why should I know him," Jackson Kiprono, a businessman told News24. " I did not know who the President of Nigeria is," he added.
For Sarah Cherono, a shop owner, this is the first time she has heard of Buhari?
" I heard of him yesterday. I did not know he existed," she offered.
As for Elvis Ngang'a a student at the nearby Moi University, Buhari is well known to him but he is not fussed by the visit.
" I know him but I doubt that his visit is of any consequence to my life," he added.
The Nigerian President will leave the country Friday after his visit. One hopes Eldoret residents will know more of the man looking to liberate Nigeria.
