BREAKING: William Ole Ntimama is dead

Nairobi - Former Cabinet Minister and veteran politician William Ole Ntimama is dead.

Well known as the Maasai community political kingpin over the years, Ole Ntimama passed on at his Narok home Thursda night at 10.30 PM.

" The (mzee) boss is dead. We are very sad," an aide of the former Minister told News24 on phone Friday morning.

He was 86.

It is understood that he died of natural causes.

" He has not been ill and has even been taking part in political rallies. We are all saddened by this," the aide added.

Ntimama served as chairman of the Narok County Council for 15 years and a further 25 years as MP and cabinet minister.

He was widely respected in political circles and CORD leader Raila Odinga, a close friend of the former leader was shocked by the news.

" It is a shocking way to end the week. Condolences to his family and friends," he told News24 when contacted.

Ntimama's body has been taken to the Lee Funeral Home in Nairobi.
