Nairobi - President Uhuru Kenyatta’s state of the nation address at parliament was on Thursday disrupted for over an hour by opposition MPs.
The head of state was forced to cut short his speech immediately he started, after the MPs allied to ODM blew whistles and heckled the President.
Efforts by house speaker Justin Muturi to calm down the rowdy lawmakers who included James Mbadi( Suba) Opiyo Wandayi (Ugunja) , Tom Kajwang( Ruaraka), Fred Outa(Nyando) Millie Odhiambo (Mbita) and Gladys Wanga(Homa Bay) failed, prompting him to invoke the house standing orders.
A visibly angry Muturi order parliamentary orderlies to eject the MPs out of the house.
Senate Speaker Ekwe Ethuro also ordered that Homabay Senator Moses Kajwang be thrown out of the chamber too..
President Kenyatta continued with his address after the show-down and even made a joke about it.
"After being thoroughly entertained we can now continue with serious business.." he said
