Following the appointment, Kiraith, who has a long and distinguished history of public service mainly in the security sector, will move from his current role as General Manager for Security Services at the Kenya Airports Authority.

According to the statement, the Office of the National Government Spokesperson will function from the State Department of Interior and Coordination of National Government while the Office of the State House Spokesperson will remain within the Executive Office of the President.

Kiraithe will take up the office that was once occupied by Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua during the retired President Mwai Kibaki’s regime.

The office office was shut in August 2013, and the current State House spokesperson Manoah Esipisu put in charge of communication within the government.
