Boda Boda's still rule Nairobi's roads despite Kidero ban

Nairobi - Boda Boda motorcycles still rule the roads in Nairobi despite a ban by Governor Evans Kidero last week.
Kidero banned the motorcycles from Nairobi's Central Business District last week, saying that they were disorderly and a major cause of accidents.
He stated that anyone seen operating passenger motorcycles in Nairobi would be fined or jailed.
A week later though, the boda boda's are back in full force.
They are back in the streets and operating as normal. Some say they did not even take a break.
" I have been at work all through. I do not know why they wanted to chase us out of the city as we never cause traffic accidents and we stand in designated areas," an operator told News24 just outside the Agip House petrol station in Nairobi.
Others say that they pay rates to stay in the city and deserve to be where they are.
" We pay taxes and rates to the government. We deserve to do business anywhere as long as security is okay," another operator told News24.
The boda boda's are an integral part of Nairobi's transport plan as many find them easier and cheaper.
