Beer, Condom adverts banned on Kenyan television

Nairobi - Beer and condom adverts have been banned by the Kenya Film Censorship Board for depicting sexual content.
The beer ads belong to The Kenya Breweries LTD's Snapp brand.
The Condom ones are for Trust Condoms as well as Durex.
Adverts also from soap brand Lux and Fresh Fry Oil have also been banned.
" The adverts depict scenes intended for adult audiences and should not air during the watershed hours of 5 am to 10 pm," the Board via CEO Ezekiel Mutua said Wednesday.

Mutua said advertisers and broadcasters have 14 days to comply with these bans or risk licence revocation and prosecution.
"They attempt to associate drugs, alcohol, and other illegal substances with sexual prowess and, or a glamorous or successful lifestyle," he added.
The said brands in a rejoinder, state that they will contest the decision by the Board.
